Welcome to My World!!

My favorite quote...We all live in hiding. In one way or another each of us conceal pieces of ourselves from the rest of the world. Some people hide because their lives depend on it. Others because they don't like being seen. And then there are those special cases, the ones who hide because they just want someone to care enough to look for them...Which one are you?

Today Was A 2-for-1!

Not only was today election day! Did you remember to go & vote?!? It also was my Papa's birthday!! He would have been 85 today. It is really ironic that today was election day, because he was always the strongest supporter of everyone's right to vote. I grew up with this wonderful man, a WWII vet, always saying, "If you don't vote, don't bitch!" He would also always remind us that he lost friends to make sure we had this fundamental right! Well Papa I voted today & thought about you as I filled out my ballot! Love you & miss you loads!!

Fearing His First Confession

Just like my Friday posts, my Friday night has became pretty predictable. I leave work, make the hour plus trip to spend time with my guy, and then head to the grocery store to do the majority of my weekly shopping. Last night I went about my typical Friday night, with the exception of getting off work early to return the page I "borrowed", but when I pulled into the Meijer's parking lot my cell phone rang. It was my aunt telling me that there was something seriously wrong with my TV...it wasn't working! I had been fearing for several days that my TV was taking a puke. So much so, I even commented about it over here! Of course this totally threw my exhausted brain into a frenzy, which lead to me going into the store without my reusable shopping bags*.

Upon leaving the grocery store, I decided to just run over to Wendy's for dinner as I was too tired and frustrated to even think about cooking something without meat when I would get home around 10:30pm. I got home, put away the perishables, verified that my TV wasn't working, shut off the power to my whole entertainment system for 30 seconds and then powered it back up. My TV seemed to be working or at least I had a picture while my Direct TV was repowering up. Hoping that I wouldn't be TV-less until I could get around to buying a new TV, I sat down to eat my dinner. I immediately discovered that McDonald's rules when it comes to fast-food fish sandwiches and after two horrible bites, I tossed my dinner out. My TV was back in business by then and I started to consider that it may be my satellite receiver taking a puke instead, so I called and arranged for a technician to come out next Saturday between the hours of 8am-12pm (there goes another Saturday of sleeping in!).

While playing Direct TV's little game of 'Did you do this? How about this? Is it working now?' my mom called, so I returned her call after I hung up with Direct TV. I also ordered "Julia & Julie" as my free movie for the month of February just in case my receiver gives out completely this week! As it was slated to start at 11pm and I was returning my mom's call at 11:10pm I figured I would start watching it within that half-hour so I could get to bed at an okay time to be up early for the munchkin's First Confession. Ha! An hour and a half later I hung up from my mom and began to watch the movie, which was pretty cute in my sleep deprived opinion.

I made my way to bed last night at 3:00am. So much for getting to bed at an okay time and being able to get up early to get some stuff done before I met my aunt and the munchkin at church. I still had high hopes so while I was trying to pack my stuff up to take care of while I was in town this morning my cell phone rang and it was my munchkin. He was crying and in a complete and total mental meltdown over going for his First Confession. He was scared to death!! I totally didn't expect this from him and it threw me for a loop! Even when I meet them at the church his eyes were still red and puffy from crying. I felt so bad for him! It appears he was not alone in his feelings as a classmate of his came in several minutes later and she was still crying, because she was so scared. I felt so bad for these little 7 & 8 year-olds who were so scared of making one of their sacraments. :( Fr. Bill was awesome with them, as usual, and seemed to calm most of their fears before he began hearing everyone's confession.

After the munchkin survived his First Confession it was time to meet up with the other aunt and uncle and grab lunch @ BW3's. Then I gave the munchkin his "present"/"reward"/"bribery money" when we left the restaurant for completing his First Confession. Then I was able to do some of my errands, come home and realize that the few hours of sleep I got last night was not nearly enough. So I'm off to take a nap and accomplish #31 on my to-do list!

Consider it done: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 12, 13, 14, 15, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28

*~~today is not the day that Al Gore would be proud of me since I didn't even want to consider running back out to the car to get them!
**~~all I have left to pick up is bubble bath for the munchkin!
***~~apparently this can only be accomplished Monday-Friday 8a-8p. Too bad I didn't know this before! Guess I'll be completing this one Monday night after work, but before the gym. I don't understand why departments cannot be open on Saturday! I'm not saying all day, but hey...maybe 4 hours!

Requesting a Re-Do for This Weekend

I should have known Friday that this whole weekend was going to suck! I should have reserved myself at that time to just stay in bed when mommy dearest woke me up after I slept through my alarms and stayed there until Monday morning came around again! You know how shitty Friday was from here.

And you know how unproductive Saturday was from this. In addition to being unproductive yesterday, my guy's call was cutoff after only 3.5 minutes. Frustrating! Also, I had no motivation to do anything. My pampering took way longer than anticipated and then when I left I jammed my thumb on my car door and screwed up my polish already. I had to wear the throwaway flip-flops in to the meat market to get our lunchmeat because it was so late already! By the time I got home, I had no desire to do anything so I opted to lay down for a nap, which lasted almost 3.5 hours and I only woke up for the call from my man, which was cut off in minutes. Even at almost 9pm, I really had no drive to get out of bed, but since all I had ate all day was some hard salami, I opted to get up and order a pizza. Well, that was a killer for the sugar because I couldn't resist getting a regular pizza instead of just a taco pizza (the pizza sauce is what kills me!) I ate my pizza, did nothing else and went to bed after Saturday Night Live!

I went to bed hoping that today would be much better and I would have some motivation. I was happily awakened at 8:54am by my guy calling again. At least this time we weren't cut off!! I got out of bed, came out and did some Litigation homework and emailed the latest version to my group members. I hate group assignments! Ugh... Then I decide to take a shower and go grocery shopping. I walk out the door @ 11am with a goal of getting my Double Dark Hot Chocolate on my way to Meijers, doing all of my shopping and being out of Meijers and done by noon. When I enter Meijers I see that their reusable bags are on sale, so I opt to purchase 5 of them. I make my way to the opposite side of the store to get personal products, walk through the Halloween stuff and purchase some new towels and some really cool skeleton plates for the munchkin! On to the groceries and as I'm starting on the second half of that section I reach to get some Smart Water for the week and when I turn back I realize my DDHC is tipped upside down in to my purse! FUCK ME!!! Just so we are clear...DDHC & a Coach bag do not mix! After asking someone from the meat counter if I can have some papertowel, I finish my shopping, decide I think I have more than 5 bags worth of stuff and pick up 5 more since they are on sale ($0.78/bag...count me in!) and am checking out at 12:08pm. Not too bad...

I run to the bank, of course on a Sunday afternoon there would be 3 cars in front of me! Then on to get my other favorite drink, a diet root beer from a local drive-in and splurge on an order of mini-tacos! I come home and start putting my groceries and stuff away. Of course my sliced veggies that are in water are leaking all over one of my bags and thanks to the wisdom of the cashier, my flat-out bread/tortilla/wrap thingys are in the same damn bag. I finally get everything put away, start some laundry, pick up the house a little as I'm walking from room to room, eat my now cold mini-tacos after I spent time picking up an entire plastic holder full of cue-tips because when I tried to open my bathroom window, I knocked them over and of course they went behind my toilet on the frickin' floor! I looked up to the heavens...okay, my ceiling...and questioned if God was playing a sick joke on my this weekend!

As I walk by my very active printer I realize all that it is spitting out are blank pages. My once "running low on black ink" has became "totally out of black ink...we warned you moron!" Seriously?!? I would ask that dreadful question, but I'm scared to. I just stuck my dinner in the oven because it will take 2 hours to cook, put load #3 out of load #6 in the washer and now I need to go back and reprint all of my crap that came out blank... Not a happy day in this neighborhood.

Needless to say on top of all of this crap, my productivity is pretty low. All I've managed to accomplish so far is: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 17, 18, & 22! Matters in progress are: 3, & 14. If I finished those 2 items from my list at least I would finish the day at 50%. Too bad I can't just continue to work on #22 and wake up tomorrow to a better day.

I sure hope y'all are having a better weekend than I am....

Green living comes back as green money in my pocket

I have two salons that I frequent. A hair salon and a body salon. I could get almost everything done at one or the other, but I guess I've decided to play them off one another! My body salon is much more aggressive with their advertising and deals and things of that nature. Last month, they offered 15% a product for every hair, facial and body product empty bottle you brought in. I took in 3 and earned 45% off on products (3 products @ 15% off!). Well when they sent this month's email out they said it was so successful (15 product containers returned) they decided to do it for September too! Well, in the last week I returned 7 product containers (5 on Tuesday and 2 Saturday), so I earned a total of 105% off on products! I could make me a little killing if they keep this up...

Need Help Going Green

Okay, I will admit, I am not the "greenest" person on the planet and I'm slow to come on board. However, now that I feel embarrassed at grocery stores when I haul my plastic bags out to the car I feel it is time to go green in this area. My son, who has singlehandedly started recycling in our home, will be so uber proud of his momma!

But I need your help...I am looking for reusable shopping bags. Yes, I know I could purchase the blue ones at Meijers for $0.99 (I think) and that would be fine with me. But I saw some young couple (my god, how old am I really?!?) in front of me a couple weeks ago at Meijers and they had the coolest reusable shopping bags. I couldn't even tell you what color or if there was a design on them. What made them so cool, you ask. Well, they snapped up in to this neat little square when they aren't in use.

So what I am looking for is (cheap) reusable shopping bags that fold in to a nice little neat square and snap in to place. Do you know anything like this? Can anyone help me go green in this area? Maybe you know something better! Please share any and all advice with reusable shopping bags that don't take up too much of my (very) limited space when they aren't in use! It would be wonderfully appreciated!!
