Welcome to My World!!

My favorite quote...We all live in hiding. In one way or another each of us conceal pieces of ourselves from the rest of the world. Some people hide because their lives depend on it. Others because they don't like being seen. And then there are those special cases, the ones who hide because they just want someone to care enough to look for them...Which one are you?

Just A Few Things To Toss Out There

Things are crazy at work right now for several reasons. But thanks to some of that craziness I had a very yummy lunch today and hopefully I will have an even better lunch tomorrow with Dani! Of course the location of where I was this afternoon and the same place I will be tomorrow, which yields me these yummy & fun lunches is a pain to get to and from. The expressway I would usually take is closed. So instead of my usual 45 minute commute on the expressway is much closer to an hour and a half on a side street...

The drive wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't raining, again. I've had it with this weather. It has rained so much that even on the days it doesn't rain there are puddles of water every where you go. The munchkin's soccer games and practice keeps getting canceled because the fields are too wet and too dangerous to be on. Why is it mother nature can't get it right? Spread the rain out to areas that need it instead of keeping it in the same place?!? Is it really that hard? Seriously?

Now with a killer headache, a crabby munchkin, and a bit of an upset stomach I'm calling it a night...

March Brings Sunshine...So Close Yet So Far Away

Today we were treated to lots of sunshine and weather in the 40's! It was lovely. Of course in this area we all know too well that winter isn't over and I do fear that today was just another tease. But I'll take it regardless.

After working today I joined my aunt and uncle for a free dinner at their neighborhood French Italian Bistro. Of course it entailed sitting through a two-hour presentation on Fire Safety. Boring you say? Actually it was quite nice and very informative. More importantly it was free!! And better yet, it was what I order every time I go there...Chicken Parmigiana! Yum Yum Yum

Of course we didn't get out of there until after 8:30pm, which meant no workout for me! I don't know if I will get one in this week as I have a very busy week ahead of me. This, of course, is my own fault. Last week was Spring Break and I had this master plan of all of the things I would get accomplished during my time off from class. And that plan, I failed!

I scheduled tomorrow off from work so I can write my appellate brief for SADO, which is due by 5pm Wednesday. Since this will likely take the entire day and then some, I will be skipping E&T tomorrow night as well. And since Prof Arrogance refused to give us Thursday's assignment until last night, I now have that to do too. If not for that I would have my Trial Practice homework done. Ugh! I'm 12 pages away from completing my E&T homework too. So close, yet so far away from being on top of this...

Consider it done: 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22
Just getting started: 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 19, 20

A Little Hodge-Podge for a Monday

This morning we woke up to a pile of snow outside our door! We had about 5.5 inches, which had fallen since 10pm last night. I'm so tired of the snow. Spring needs to hurry the heck up! I'm so sick of the cold weather, the snowy roads and having to wear a coat!

In an effort to keep challenging myself, not on purpose mind you, I went to the gym again tonight. That wasn't the challenging part! The real challenge tonight was the fact that I read Trial Practice while doing about 40 mins on the treadmill! Oh yeah...and I didn't fall off! I'm so proud of myself!! Of course my "highlighting" looks like I am a crack addict going through DTs, but beggars cannot be choosers! Of course now I am completely exhausted.

I picked up my test results tonight in order to take them to the specialist tomorrow morning and I'm happy to report that they keep going down. I was actually presently surprised with my A1C since this was after the holidays and my meltdown too. Then I start to wonder...how low could it have been if I wouldn't have had my meltdown just recently! I'm anxious to see what she has to say in the morning about these latest results. Since I'm not exactly sure if I will ever be able to get the Creatinine down to normal or even if it is a possibility for me anymore, but I keep hoping! Here are my test results for the last three times...

A1C:
2/13/10~~5.6

Creatinine:
2/13/10~~55, 9.08 & 165

Consider it done: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32

Groundhog Day~50% chance that I'll love it!

Okay...last month my gas bill was over double what it was the month prior. My man suspects it is because I did not heed his advice and change the furnace filter like he told me to a couple months ago. I like to believe it was due to the frigid temps with highs in the single digits and teens for a little over a week during that month. Of course this last week the temps were back in the single digits and teens the most of each day. Have I expressed before how much I hate winter?!

Well, today is the day. The day we rely on a rodent, or is it a mammal...I don't pay attention to that in elementary school probably because I didn't care and honestly, still don't...to tell us what the future holds. The sad part is he is as reliable as the weathermen (and women).

Go Punxsutawney Phil!!!* I'm hopeful that he doesn't see his shadow, because I'm tired of winter already!

*~~I don't know if this is the groundhog's name, but I seem to only remember this as the little guy/gal's name.

My Groundhog Day

Several people ask me what all I do while I am up visiting my guy. It is pretty much the same everyday. It isn't exciting but it isn't boring either but it has became a routine...

  • I start my day by getting up whenever I wake up...yippie, no alarms for 3 entire mornings!!
  • I get partially ready: shower, get dressed, do my hair.
  • I travel off to grab breakfast. It is always at the same location...every day, The Hilltop Restaurant. I found this place my very first morning up here and fell in love. The staff is fantastic and super friendly. And oh my god....the food is to die for! They have the best homestyle breakfast I have ever had in my life!! (Their biscuits and gravy surpass any biscuits and gravy Bob Evans has ever served me in my entire life!!!) It appears to be the local favorite too, so I opt to sit in the smoking section as it is way less busy and it gives me a chance to read for school. I usually average about 2 hours there depending on what time I woke up. And in case I slept too late that day and missed breakfast, the rest of their food is excellent too!
  • I have two options now. If I went to the front desk that morning to pick up my voucher for the casino I go over, turn it in, get my coupons and my certificate for my $5. This is also where I get my rolls of quarters each day for the vending machines during my visit. If I didn't get my voucher I go straight back to the hotel room and again, depending on time, I finish getting ready...do my make-up, count out my quarters, make sure I'm ready for my visit.
  • At 3:25pm, I leave my room and drive the 2 minutes it takes to get to the prison. I check in, get snacks, go through my pat-down and go to the visiting room to wait for them to bring my guy in. We visit from 4-8:30pm. Then it is time to go...
  • Since the town closes at 8pm, I only have 2 options for dinner. Of course I'm just starting to feel hungry after my wonderful first meal. I could always go to the casino and eat at their Sports Bar, but that is usually going to be pretty busy, so I go to the only other option. A place called Irene's Pizza. This is where I eat dinner and read some more. They too have excellent food. Their pizza is very good, but I'm finding out this trip that their Mexican choices out do their pizza. Their taco pizza is the best one I've ever had and tonight I had a wet burrito, which was excellent. I usually stay there as late as either they are open (which on Fridays and Saturdays is till midnight) or until I feel like coming back to the room. Or like tonight, I head back to the room earlier than normal because I have to put on my PJs because I overate and it is snowing like crazy. (They expect 4-6 inches of snow tonight here & 7 inches of snow is expected at home today too...When will Spring arrive Mr. Groundhog?!?)
  • Back to the room I come to get ready for bed, get my stuff ready to do the same thing tomorrow and read some more for school.
Others ask me...don't you get bored? Actually, no. I become very relaxed while I'm here and get loads of rest and reading done. I think I need these weekends as much as he does, but I think I get more out of them then my honey does...

I'm off to get ready for bed and to read more BK!!

PS. I got another moan tonight...guess my evil plan is working! ;)
