My favorite quote...We all live in hiding. In one way or another each of us conceal pieces of ourselves from the rest of the world. Some people hide because their lives depend on it. Others because they don't like being seen. And then there are those special cases, the ones who hide because they just want someone to care enough to look for them...Which one are you?

I Think Of You Often

There are many days where I think of taking the time to sit down and write a blog post and I don't know why I don't just do it.  Maybe I need something dramatic going on in my life or feeling like I'm on the edge of disaster to get me back to this place.  I cannot even say for sure if that is what has lead me back here today.  Regardless, I'm back...

Not much has changed in my life.  Work is still crazy.  My son is still moody.  I'm still fighting the battle of the bulge and am losing.  My man is still where he has been the last several years.  We remain as always hopeful and pray that this year is our year.  We shall see...soon.  We are set to see the board some time next week and it could be weeks before we find out our fate.  I guess at that time we just have to rely on faith.  I don't know what else we could rely on.

In an attempt to treat myself last Friday I left work early and took myself to see "Magic Mike."  It was a good movie.  Better than I anticipated.  Of course I could have used lots more scenes of Channing Tatum stripping, but who couldn't use that!!

At this very moment my house is dead silent...as my son obliterates other gamers on Call of Duty.  Just another Tuesday night in my world.

This Was Suppose To Start Sooner

So I declared that effective March 1st I was going to really concentrate on getting my shit together.  I restarted tracking my expenses in order to effectively budget my money.  I also need to recommit to being healthier too.  Notice how one of these is 'I've restarted' and the other is 'I need'...  Opps!

The last time I blogged I spoke of the fact that so much of my life was in limbo.  Well, within 24 hours or so 2 of the areas of my life was no longer in the limbo it was at the time I blogged.  The move at work is done for the most part and should be finished as of now.  I've sort of settled my office...just need to get some work done and move a few cabinets, but I have to wait to get to that this coming week, because we all know I'm not moving those cabinets by myself!  Ha!

In other news, I did not get approved high enough for a mortgage to get a house I would be happy with.  I sort of expected this thanks to all of those student loans I'm hauling around on my credit reports.  I could get a house, but not something that is going to make me happy so I've decided to wait.  There was some discussion between my aunt and I about me renting a house, because this place is just too small for the munchkin and I and her moving in here still.  As of yesterday that decision was tabled.  Instead my auntie and I are going to rent a storage unit together so I feel less stuffed into this place and since she is going from a 4 bedroom home to a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment, she will need it too.  And we are going to paint my house to make it feel fresh for me and make it easier to stay here in the coming months as I continue to work on getting my debt further under control (see the tracking of expenses & budgeting discussed earlier!), so I can buy a house in the future...one that I'll be happy with!

We are only early into March and I feel like this is going to be a really good month for me.  So even though I was suppose to be blogging about getting my shit together effective March 1 on March 1 it is better late than never!!

Weigh-In Wednesday

Things haven't been perfect over here in the healthy living department, but I'm doing better and that is all I can ask of myself these days. So here are the results...

Starting weight: 363lbs (7/9/09)
Current weight: 327.6lbs
This week's results: -2.8lbs
Total weight lost: -35.4lbs

So it isn't a lot, especially for that first week back back on the band wagon, but I'll take it!

Jumping On The Band Wagon

I decided this week was as good as any to start back on my healthy kick/lifestyle or attempted healthy kick/lifestyle. So taking from my fellow bloggers (hopefully they don't mind) I'm now declaring Wednesdays "Weigh-In Wednesdays" so without further adieu...

Starting weight: 363lbs (7/9/09)
Current weight: 330.4lbs
Results from the last 6 weeks: 0lbs
Total weight lost: -32.6lbs

So let's see how this works out for me in the coming weeks! Of course the fact that I just received an advertisement with coupons for a taco pizza in the mail tonight doesn't help me out here...

Major Steps...Say A Little Prayer For Me, Would Ya?

I know I've tried this before, but today I went smoke-less. I don't know how this will turn out, but so far I'm doing okay. I didn't really want to quit, but I feel like I should. So last night I took my last 10 smokes, broke them up, tossed them in the garbage and said, "enough!" So please keep me in your prayers and thoughts...primarily that I don't shank anyone during this time of transition!

In other areas of my life, I weighed in this morning and discovered that nothing has changed since the last time...

Starting weight: 363lbs (7/9/09)
Current weight: 330.4lbs
Results from the last 11 weeks: 0lbs
Total weight lost: -32.6lbs

So this is the next area of my life that I need to get on top of as well. With quitting smoking I'm not aiming to lose anything this week...I'm more just hoping to get through the week. I'll deal with the fall out afterwards as long as I'm successful with the quitting smoking thing!!

Definitely Not Pretty, But It Was To Be Expected

It was almost like I was psychic Monday morning when I got on the scale. I just knew that I was going to have gained and gained a lot during the month of February. For some reason I also knew how much that scale was going to say I was weighing in at and I was only off by .4lbs.
Monday's stats...

Starting weight: 363lbs (7/9/09)
Current weight: 330.4lbs
Results from the last 5 weeks: +11.6lbs
Total weight lost: -32.6lbs

It is what it is and now I have to work back to getting those numbers down again. I haven't done great so far this week, but I definitely am not consuming as many calories I did over the last month. Hopefully that will help me get back on track, because I still find myself struggling. For some reason even though I have more time I'm getting less done than I was when I was working and going to school. What's up with that?!?

If Only I Could Go Back A Week And Get A Do Over

So today's reality check, which I knew was so going to happen after my inability to accomplish anything last week and my inability to stop myself from putting everything and anything in my mouth except healthy food and water, has spurred me to change my plan of attack. I have to change up my daily schedule because in 3 weeks I'm set to take the bar and if I do not get it together I will be just hitting repeat on all of this crap in 6 months...

More on my new plan of attack tomorrow. Until then, here are today's stats (to be expected)...

Starting weight: 363lbs (7/9/09)
Current weight: 318.8lbs
This week's results: +3.8lbs
Total weight lost: -44.2lbs

There Is No Other Option Left

Yes, in one week my life and everything I was holding high fell and shattered on the cement floor! I take complete and full responsibility for that fall and the following shattering. I had a strong run for a few weeks and even had a very strong weekend last week, but this week everything fell apart. I made it to the gym on Monday and then apparently everything went downhill starting Tuesday. This was the same day where I had to have extensive repairs made in my home, which were totally not expected. This is also the same day where for over 4 hours I had a bunch of people in my house and I also knew I had to take my munchkin to karate since my aunt's work schedule was screwed up that day. It was also the same day that I spent dreaming of Red Lobster and was rudely denied due to an electrical problem.

Once I had experienced that one bad day it just kept repeating itself every other day this week or so it seemed. Wednesday was the day of the washer problems. I had hoped this would be fixed by the end of the afternoon, but yet again...a denial. I discovered that I would have to wait another week to get that taken care of too. Not what I had planned at all.

The biggest problems I seemed to be facing this week was I was definitely feeling exhausted and was still dreaming about that Red Lobster dinner that I was denied Tuesday. Yesterday I just couldn't seem to get anything moving over here. I felt dead to the world. I so could have laid down and took a really long nap, but I didn't. Instead I made plans to finally get my Red Lobster dinner with the munchkin and my aunt after his karate class so I could stop dreaming about my Sunset Passion Colada and my coconut shrimp! Of course we were in the midst of a little snow storm (1-2"s). I was exhausted before we made it to dinner, so after my two drinks I was totally ready for the bed.

The munchkin and I were in the bed by 9pm last night...I was stuffed and very sleepy with the perfect amount of frozen alcohol mixed in. This all led me to get up very early this morning (hello 5:15am!) and realize that even though I apparently took this past week off I have to get my life back in order or else in just over 3 weeks I will be in some serious trouble and I won't be able to bail myself out of that mess. This is a requirement for me this week. No more screwing around. It is just me, my list and BarBri...we will be one this week and I will get back on that wagon of having my life together. No if's, and's, or but's about it! No more excuses!!!

My Friday To-Do List:
1. Go & see my guy
2. Write out my shopping list
3. Go shopping
4. Pick up the house
5. Study, study, study!!!!!
6. Do laundry
7. Workout
8. Get my allergy shot
9. Write my guy
10. Pick up our pictures
11. Get re-motivated
12. Get re-focused for next week
13. Plan out our week
14. Get re-committed to my healthy living
15. Get re-organized
16. Get my shit back together

A Runny Day Brings Happiness Later

I wasn't sure how this morning was going to go...A couple days this week I felt like I had lost, but then yesterday with basically eating out the whole darn day I was nervous. Plus yesterday and this morning I was feeling like I had totally gained.

I tried to do my best while I was at lunch with my LSBFF, which I loved every single minute of and which was crazy delicious. While there I feel like I tempted the healthy living Gods by selecting the lunch buffet. I know, what was I thinking?!? But I did good! I think I did very good.

My first trip through I had a plate of salad and instead of eating my dressing I wore most of it. Thank you runny ranch dressing! My second trip through I had some mixed veggies, which were pretty yummy, a delicious pork mini-burrito, some chicken stir-fry, which wasn't so yummy, and some catfish beignets, which were to die for!! I skipped the dirty rice and the meatloaf, which I found was an odd addition to the buffet. The pork mini-burrito and the catfish beignets were so yummy I totally could have went for another plate piled high, but I didn't. I called it done and shockingly by the time we left I was perfectly content with my selections and was in that range of perfectly full, not stuffed.

After getting a chance to chat with my LSBFF over the yummy food I left there and drove out to see my honey. This is where my day got crazy!! By the end of the night or I really should say the middle of our visit we realized that my new black shirt was "bleeding" all over. At first we just thought maybe I was uber cold since my hands had a purple tint to them. It was very cold out, but we were inside, a poorly heated room, but purple hands?! Then all of a sudden I realized that my guy's white shirt was now dirty. Um yeah...it was dirty from being under my arm. My black shirt was just letting its colors run wherever it wanted. His shirt, my new white tank top underneath. It didn't seem to matter. Thank god we were on some nasty brown ol' state owned chairs. I felt horrible. This would be the second shirt of his that he left with my marks on. The first was my makeup left on the shoulder of his red shirt when we said bye a few weeks back. So not only do I apparently not know how to apply my makeup at the age of 34...I can't pick out clothes and keep them from leaving their mark all over.
I guess between my salad dressing and my shirt it was just sort of a runny kind of day!

At the end of our five hours together I left and was starting to feel a little hungry, but more importantly I knew I had to get some serious water in me on my way home or else I was going to get home at 10:30pm and still have over 32 ozs to drink. So in only the second time since my healthy lifestyle re-kicked itself off back on January 3rd I ate fast food. I ran through a McDonald's drive thru and picked up a cheeseburger and 2 bottles of water.

So this morning when I woke feeling like my PJ's were tighter than the last time I wore them I was definitely nervous getting on the scale. Today's stats are...

Starting weight (7/8/09): 363lbs
Current weight: 315lbs
This week's results: -3.8lbs
Total weight lost: -48lbs

I can't believe it!! I couldn't! I just stood and stared at the number! The lowest I've been in a really, really long time! And well ahead of my goal, according to SparkPeople.com! So, since I have restarted my healthy lifestyle and been hitting the gym I have lost a total of 8.6lbs. I find this amazing. So I have now lost all of the weight I gained over the holidays plus another 1.6lbs. Yay me!! I guess hard work does really pay off!

Now I just need to incorporate that into the other areas of my life.

Law School Graduate Here...& It's Official!!

Thursday I got an email right before I left for the gym from my LSBFF to tell me that our grades were finally posted. Of course it only took 44 days... And I passed! Like totally passed. So it became official Thursday. I actually graduated from law school, officially. :) I was so happy that I could have cried or screamed or both.

I went on to the gym that afternoon (after skipping Wednesday...um, hello we had 6 inches of snow that day and no, it doesn't matter that I had drove the day before in the midst of that little snow storm to the gym) and when I walked in the owner asked me how I was and upon hearing my "I'm wonderful today" he told me that obviously something more than just getting to the gym to workout was going on with me. So I exclaimed that I had just officially graduated from law school. In my moment of glee I forgot to ask him how he was so after my workout was done I made sure to pop in and tell him to have a great day in place of my failure to ask how he was!

The munchkin was super busy that night so we decided to celebrate with a dinner out today. Before I went to dinner I did my weekly weigh-in...Today's Stats:

Starting weight (7/8/09): 363lbs
Current weight: 318.8lbs
This week's results: -.8lbs
Total weight lost: -44.2lbs

I can't say that I'm happy with these results, but I also can't say I'm not happy. I lost, which is a huge thing all by itself. I was really hoping to get another big number this week, but that didn't happen. I had a few slip-ups, but nothing huge this week. But I guess I didn't eat the right things to get my calories in so that very well may have held me back in my weight loss endeavors this week. I'm sure skipping the gym Wednesday didn't help either, but I did workout Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. Oh well...I guess I just have to tighten it up this week. That's all. Hey...a loss is a loss!

Of course I likely undid that loss at dinner today. Between the sampler platter of poppers, onion rings, cheese sticks, mini-tacos, and wings added to my yummy, juicy, delicious cheeseburger and curly fries undid that loss today. But since that and a small brownie is all I consumed today I think I may be okay next week! I didn't make the gym or get any studying done today, but I sure did have a nice day regardless.

Just Another Monday

Even though I took the weekend off from working out at the gym I made my way back today. I'm uber proud of myself there.

My eating hasn't been fantastic through the last couple of days, but not horrible either. I also know that my little slip ups with my calorie intake is a result of being overly tired. Such as those couple of spoonfuls of sugar-free hot fudge tonight straight out of the jar...oh yeah and that football shaped brownie, which was ate in honor of the BCS Championship game! Ha!!
I'm quite sure that my 3am panic attack last night/this morning didn't help either. The crazy thing was that the attack happened before I even realized that we are just 6 weeks away from The Bar.

While I continue to struggle to get a studying pattern clicking I am happy that the rest of things seem to be going well. I'm staying on top of several areas in my life so once I get this whole studying thing clicking then I think it will all be smooth sailing for me. One positive is each day I do a little bit more to get my studying to click so I'm positive that in the next day or two it will totally click in.

Positive thoughts people...positive thoughts...

The Changes Continue In 2011, But I Think For The Better

Knowing that we were going to Monster Jam last night I opted to weigh in yesterday morning. Plus in reading all of the suggestions as I was getting ready to start back to my healthy living I had read that you should when in on Friday's for two reasons. The first reason was because after having a strong week you would be at your lowest and second it can help you to remain more focused over the weekend. Obviously the weekends are where so many of us consume more calories on a daily basis than we did during the weekdays. This is so true for me!

When I make it to the weekends I usually have different things going on which can pose as an additional struggle for me to maintain my daily calorie intake. So I opted for my new weigh in day for 2011 as Saturday mornings. As for why I didn't post this yesterday...hmmmm, I'm not really sure. However, I did remember to weigh in and record it, so here is the result...

Yesterday's stats...

Starting weight (7/8/09): 363lbs
Current weight: 319.6lbs
This week's results: -4lbs
Total weight lost: -43.4lbs

I was definitely hoping for a bigger number; however, I know I have to keep in mind that this wasn't a full 7 days. It is actually a reflection on a 5 day week since I didn't start till Monday. And I ate super late Friday night. Technically it was Saturday when I had dinner Friday night. So keeping those facts in mind I'm pretty damn happy. I almost lost a pound a day! :) I guess this whole eating right and going to the gym actually does work.

So even though I skipped the gym yesterday (I got up way too late, plus I knew we would be doing some extra walking with going to Monster Jam) I'm still motivated to keep up the good work. I just want to get out of the 300's so bad that I wish it would happen quicker. But I know that it will happen, soon, so I will just keep up the good work and hope that the weight keeps coming off the way it did in this last week...

Property Sucks; Sonics Rules!

I don't know about anyone else, but my bar review is going very slow... Maybe it is because I'm working on property and I hate property. I mean I HATE PROPERTY!!

The first time I attempted law school in 2000 I went to my property professor and promised to never own property or practice property law if he would just pass me with the lowest possible grade. Yes, I hated property that much. When I went back to law school in 2006 I was totally dreading property & ended up taking it as a 2L, because I was an extended evening student. Yup, still hated property 7 years later. And now 4 years after that...still hate property!! Blah...

Today was day #2 of my healthy living~2011 and I had another great day. I made shredded BBQ chicken (breast) for dinner. It was so yummy and I ate so much, but I was still in my calorie range. Okay...maybe I hate 90 calories over today, but I was close!!

Heck, I even made it to the gym today. The first time in like forever! I didn't go all crazy today. I did 20 minutes on the treadmill and then did 10 upper body machines. Well, actually 11 because one of the machines you do 2 different exercises. Since I had completed my workout and I had drank all of my water for the day I headed over to Sonics!

Yes, we have a Sonics in my little town. I'm so excited and I will support it as much as possible so it doesn't close!! LOL I've been in love with Sonics since trips with my guy down to Tennessee to see his Grandpa. It was always a standard to go to Sonics when we left! Sort of like a little treat for me for surviving the craziness down in the hollars!

But don't worry folks...all I got was a RT44 Diet Coke! I was uber proud of myself, because I was totally starving and would have loved me some onion rings with a Sonic Cheeseburger on the side, but I was strong and drove away with my crazy big Diet Coke...

I am very proud of myself today and am hopeful to make it to the gym tomorrow too... Oh yeah...and hopefully I get done with my property review too, but I just don't see that happening since I'm moving at a snail's pace.

BTW, look at how much I've accomplished this week. I totally think 2011 is going to be my year!! :)

Today Is My Official Start Of The New Year

Yup! Always a day late and a dollar short over here. LOL

Okay...all the kidding aside. I had marked today as my official start to the new year. I can never start on the actual first, because for years in my family that was another holiday. Back when my grandparents were alive we would all get together on January 1st and have another family gathering. Maybe the prior six weeks with all the Thanksgiving, birthdays (my youngest aunt & my dad in the beginning and then later my step-son and my guy), Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve gatherings weren't enough, so we needed just one more day. Then in years later it became the day of recovery from the partying of the night before, the day to watch college football and the day to finish off whatever munchies we had the night before. So even though we no longer get together as a family on January 1st I still treat it like a holiday. Therefore I cannot make my fresh start on January 1st! And seriously who the heck can start getting their new year together on a Sunday (i.e. the 2nd)?!? So...that left today as my official start to the New Year and therefore the official start to my New Year Resolutions!

So this morning I woke up late, of course, hopped in the shower and started to get ready. I was nervous a bit, because I knew I had to hop on that scale and face the failing of my goal to maintain over the holidays. I know somewhere I discussed that goal, but I can't seem to locate it for now. So needless to say I was really scared of what the scale was going to say, especially since I started eating my way through the holidays right before Turkey Day and haven't stopped since. Regardless of my fear I put my big girl panties on (along with the rest of my clothes) and hopped on that scale...I was totally ready for a double digit gain...especially since I hadn't weighed myself since December 5th.

Today's stats...

Starting weight (7/8/09): 363lbs
Current weight: 323.6lbs
The results: +7lbs
Total weight lost: -39.4lbs

Not too shabby if you ask me. Especially if you saw what all I've ate in the last month plus! It so could have been worse.

Now the next challenge of my official start of the new year was actually getting back on the band wagon of eating healthy again. This was totally hard with lots of left over goodies from Christmas. But I did it!! I'm definitely ready for this official start of the new year and for it all to continue tomorrow and beyond...

Busy Downloading

So you will be able to see below that I have not accomplished much this weekend. But I have been busy downloading Season 1 of Sons of Anarchy. And let me tell you...it is a very slow process. I've been downloading for over 24 hours. I'm not sure why it is taking so long, but it is.

So here is a quick update... The streak is holding steady. Today's stats...

My Mom Always Said My Mouth Would Get Me Into Trouble

Oh my, oh my...what a day!! I went to bed way too late last night and got up way too late this morning. Opps. I was up and out the door in less than an hour and off to pick up the munchkin. We went to the eye doctor, which ended up taking forever. Then I had to rush home, pick up one of his outfits for his pictures, and then rush off to get my allergy shot and then get his pictures done. This is where things started to go downhill...

We arrive in time for our 12:30pm appointment to learn the idiot who I spoke to earlier in the week scheduled us for 12/9...a Thursday. So they had to fit us in. By now I was beyond irritated. Most years we just wing it and wait forever and we are usually much later in the season. This year I attempt to do things by the book and it gets all screwed up. With extra time to kill that we really didn't have in our schedule my munchkin decides to con me into picking up a few things for him. I get him changed into his outfit and then we go back and wait. The couple who was ordering their little girl's pictures were odd. I couldn't put my finger on it. I kept getting weird looks from them and weird interactions with the dad/husband. I thought maybe I knew him, but couldn't recall him or something. Then it happened.

Apparently I'm the worst parental figure in the world and shouldn't be allowed around other people's children, because when the mom told the toddler that they had to get moving because dad was breaking out in hives because he was missing the Michigan/Ohio State game I say, "Just say 'Dad it is no big deal Michigan blows anyways'." Well you would have thought I told her to tell her Dad to F Off! Was it inappropriate? Probably. Was it detrimental? Maybe. Was it cause for the Dad to come out of his chair to threaten me? I don't think so. First of all the kid was too little to even know what I said and secondly if you don't make a big deal out of these things kids don't continue to repeat such things. It is when they get reactions do they carry it to the next level. So I apologized and I felt like crap afterwards. I suspect I've been black-marked at the studio not to be allowed around other people's children... That's okay, because I don't really like other people's kids.

By now it was well past the time that my munchkin needed another dose of his medicine so he was acting as boorishly as what his mom acts like while he was getting his pictures done. We finally get out of there and are off to find some CLR for the munchkin's bathroom and then to check out. From there we go to the dry cleaners, the grocery store and the salon to pick up a couple of things and to drop off my non-perishable foods for their food drive. Hey, at least I'm trying to help the unfortunate after I've damaged them with my mouth.

We had planned to meet up with my aunt and my mom for lunch, which I had not originally wanted to do due to my fear of not keeping my streak alive tomorrow, but after the morning and early afternoon I had experienced I could have used a drink and some high calorie foods. This is when the 2nd shoe dropped. Before we left the salon the munchkin announces he can't find his Nintendo DS. Excuse me?!? We rip the car apart and can't find it. I'm beyond livid at this point. Of course I was still mad at myself for my earlier transgression. I call the studio and they have it. We head back there and pick it up.

Finally we make it to "lunch" around 4pm and I order a jumbo strawberry margarita. Of course my statement of "the stronger the better" to the waiter was taken very seriously! Daym!! I could only drink 3/4ths of it and I was definitely a little more than buzzed. I scarfed down our favorite appetizer, a half of a huge shrimp-fajita-quesadilla, and then consumed Mexican fried ice cream. I probably should have ran a couple more errands after lunch, but I was ready to just come home and crash. I spent the rest of the night freezing, trying to consume as much of my water intake as I could in hopes of not totally blowing my weigh-in for tomorrow and trying to sober up a bit.

Now it is time to bring this not so great day to an end and hope that tomorrow is better and that I don't damage anyone else's children...

Thanksgiving Aftermath...

Of course I was late getting to the family dinner. Opps. Luckily my aunt and uncle were even later... Hey, at least I called ahead of time and warned that I was going to be late!! Everyone finally arrived and then we sat down to dinner.

I was so proud of myself, because after it was all over and done I was the only person other than my munchkin who was not complaining how full and uncomfortable I was. Hehehehe Of course all I ate was a small piece of turkey, some stuffing, a couple olives, a couple of rolls (w/butter of course), some sweet potatoes w/marshmallows, and then a small piece of both pumpkin and apple pie. Yay me...

Of course since I've been home I've ate several handfuls of the Mud Puddles popcorn I ordered from the munchkin's cub scout popcorn fundraiser. Opps...

While I was helping serve dessert my Dad wanted to start shit with me. Ugh... Seriously?!? It started as funny and he had to take it to another level. Why must people do this?! When I showed up I had joked with everyone that I had a mouse that ate 6 of the rolls out of the packages I brought for dinner. And when I put them out and after they were passed around I told everyone that there were only 1, maybe 2, rolls left if someone wanted more. Still totally joking, because everyone knew there were like 12 rolls left in the kitchen. I had told everyone how yummy the rolls and everything. So when I was asking everyone what kind of pie they wanted I saw that my Dad had a roll still sitting by him on the table (he had taken 2), so I say, "No letting the rolls go to waste." Everyone chuckled. He tried to hand it back to me and I giggled, "No, you can have it. I'm just saying don't let it go to waste." That apparently opened the flood gates to my Dad's mouth...

Dad: "She is saying that because I used to make her clean her plate."
j'lynn: "No."
Dad: "Yes. I used to make her clean her plate. Well, not the first serving but whenever she asked for seconds. If you took more, you have to clean your plate."
j'lynn: "Pumpkin or apple?"
Dad: "Do you remember? I never made you clean your first serving."
j'lynn: "Let's not relive my childhood. Pumpkin or apple?"
Dad: "What I'm saying is true."
j'lynn: "Oh, okay. Pumpkin or apple?"
Dad: "We can relive your childhood."
j'lynn: "No. Trust me. We shouldn't."
Dad: "Why? You had a great childhood."
j'lynn: "You really don't want me to relive my childhood right now. Pumpkin or apple?"
Dad: "You had a great childhood."
j'lynn: "Pumpkin or apple?"
Dad: "What was wrong with your childhood?"
j'lynn: "Seriously. Pumpkin or apple? We aren't doing this now. One last chance, pumpkin or apple?"
Dad: "Apple."
j'lynn: "Good choice..."

Only a man who is no longer recovering would believe that I had a great childhood as I stood around and watched my parents abuse one another and drink themselves into oblivion. Fun times, but lets not try to relive them during Thanksgiving dinner, okay?! Family....need I say more?

The Streak Lives On...

This week's stats...

Starting weight (7/8/09): 363lbs
Current weight: 316.8lbs
This week's results: -2.8lbs
Total weight lost: -46.2lbs

I'm totally excited, because I have finally broke free from the 320's & my mental block. I am now at the lowest point I've been in this very, very long journey! I even surpassed where I was back in March and August! I am so happy and so proud of myself. So now that I have accomplished this goal I'm setting two more for myself. Since I've hit this accomplishment at a very precarious time with Thanksgiving just days away, finals a week from tomorrow, starting Bar prep, and Christmas all happening within the next month I know I have to be extra careful not to fall backwards. So my first goal is to keep my streak going through the next 6 weeks considering the holidays. My goal after that is getting below the 300's. I'm not going to push or concentrate on my second goal until I make it through the next 6 weeks. So on to goal #1...keeping my streak alive.

Totally Crushing On My Prof!

I seriously don't think I could be any exhausted or feeling off than I am this week. I am hoping that this is just a small little blip on my radar. I'm also hopeful that I don't screw up my streak, but I'm not betting any money on that. I don't think I've consumed all of my water one single day this week. But I do know that I have more than consumed all of my calories every single day plus some. I'm hoping this is just a result of my hormones and emotions. Yes Mother Nature, I'm laying a portion of the blame at your feet, but I will take the brunt of it, I promise!

When class started today Prof. Arrogance announced today was out last class. Woo-hoo!! This means that when I finish my last final a week from Monday at 7:50pm I will officially be done with law school. Well...officially done with attending classes and finals! I will have to finish the my Externship and the work that goes with it, but I'll be all done with classes! I cannot believe it! I've waited for this day to come for a very long time. Some times I think I've waited for this day for over 34 years. Then during class as we were all filing out a survey Prof. Arrogance gave me a present! Yes, me...a present!! :)

He said all Criminal Defense Attorneys need one! I heart Prof. Arrogance!! And to think that 4 years ago I hated Prof. Arrogance. I guess it goes to show that most people I end up loving in my life I start out hating... Thank You Prof. Arrogance!

Just Another Hump Day Over Here

I really started this week on a good note...well I woke up in a pretty good mood Monday morning and from there it seems to have went down hill and continued that way. Monday morning my guy called me and was in some bad space. It was nothing directed at me, but I knew that there was stuff simmering around him and he was being pulled into the folds of it. The unfortunate thing is there is nothing I can do other than talk with him to help and what's worst is that he can't just pick up and move out of the way of the tidal wave that is rising around him. I didn't dwell on the situation when I was busy with other stuff, but during my down time I often wondered how things were going. And I really wondered when I missed his call at 3:10pm, because I was stuck in court for my Externship.

My Externship wasn't all that great this week. I didn't get to do anything other than follow other people around and observe. This is good, but not great. Then I thought I had my scheduled all jacked up for Tuesday and perfectly planned by 12:45pm Monday afternoon and by 3pm that same afternoon my Tuesday schedule was blown out of the water.

Tuesday I had hoped to observe a trial from 9am until 10:30am when I needed to duck out a little early to attend my financial aid exit interview at school for 11am. Then Monday afternoon I learned that the trial wouldn't get back under way until 10:30am. Just great! So after discussing it with my LSBFF I opted to bail on my Externship for Tuesday morning and went to my exit interview. From there I headed over to my ortho follow-up appointment. Of course I had that scheduled for 1:45pm and had scheduled my munchkin's flu shot appointment (located 35 minutes away) for 2:45pm. So I headed to my ortho early and actually was in and out 17 minutes before my scheduled appointment.

Before my doctor's appointment I was able to make my way to Biggby Coffee and pick up a yummy Double Dark (Sugar-Free, Fat-Free) Hot chocolate and after my appointment I even had enough time to swing over to Buddy's Pizza for my uber-yummy family-size Antipasto Salad with their delicious ranch dressing! Then off to get the munchkin from school with enough time to fill out the paperwork to drop off his "stomach pills" (a/k/a Pepto-Bismal chewable tablets). Then we went to his doctor's and upon his discovering he would be getting a shot everything became a mess. I remember lots of tears, yelling, screaming, some "I hate you Mommy...You lied to me." statements, a few slaps at my hands as if he could just swat me away like a fly. And all of this was pre-shot!

Some how I got suckered into getting him a prize for handling the situation so well. After the shot I even remarked to the doctor that "this" (carrying on) was the reason why we couldn't do this at Walgreen's! Everyone except the munchkin found this funny. After picking up his "prize" we headed home, but only for the munchkin to point out that at some point, on some road I had a rock take a chunk out of my new windshield. Damn!

After having to call my wonderful insurance agent and then the glass repair place, plus fixing dinner I was worn out. I think the emotional toll of finding out that the tidal wave did scoop up my guy in the mix even though he was okay as a result that day didn't help either. The munchkin told me to take a nap, because I was so sleepy. Or it was maybe because he wanted both the TV and the computer for himself! I laid down at 6:30pm with only a few interruptions from my munchkin and my ringing phone. At 8pm my munchkin joined me in my bed. We finally fell back asleep sometime after 10pm and before I knew it I was waking to Hump Day!

With all of these things going crazy, feeling exhausted, and feeling crabby as could be I have experienced some heavy handed emotional eating. I bitched at a lot of people. There was tons of eye rolling and a desire to scratch someone's eyeballs out. It all descended on me when I got in my car tonight to drive home and had an overwhelming desire to sit in my car, in the dark parking lot, in the big city and instead of driving home crying my eyes out. I didn't do this, but I really wanted to. So instead I called up the aunt and met her and the munchkin for a late dinner. More emotional eating...go figure!

I really haven't gotten much else accomplished this week so far and I keep thinking about my streak and whether I'm throwing it away by the hour. I'm hoping tomorrow I will be in some better mental space, out of the eating phase and I can get tons done in addition to working on keeping that streak alive...
